Jackson is definitely a successful
"saved" story. This young intact male was brought to the
Edmonton Pound in early December as a stray by a woman who found him
roaming. When he arrived at the Edmonton Pound, they were unable to
thoroughly assess him as he was very timid and even a bit aggressive. They
had guessed him to be a Boston Terrier crossbreed who was under 3 years.
He was to stay in the pound for four days and then be euthanized due to
his aggressiveness. |

| In the
first few minutes I met Jackson he was quite timid. He took a few minutes to warm up to me and then he was like any other Boston Terrier I have known. I couldn't let him spend another minute in the shelter environment, as it seemed he really thrived on the one on one attention. He came home with me that night. Over the short time I had him, he showed no signs whatsoever of aggression or nervousness. However, he did seem very anxious when I kenneled him for a short time. I do think that was his cause for concern in the shelter environment. It was very evident to me that he had been well trained. He knew several commands, "sit, outside, shake a paw" etc. He loved everyone who came to visit at my home. Once his initial assessment in my home was complete, Jackson went to his permanent foster home with Doug in Edmonton. Doug and Jackson bonded very well in the first week they were together and Doug decided that Jackson would have his forever home with him! Jackson often sees his new Boston best friend, Storm who he plays with and even a Boston "girlfriend", Emma whom he likes to cuddle with! Jackson loves his walks and daily goes on walks through the river valley or when it is to cold, they will walk the underground parkades or LRTs stations. |

| Doug
has taken him to a veterinarian who agrees that he is very healthy and is
a beautifully marked specimen of a Boston Terrier. Upon viewing his
teeth, they thought that he was just over a year old. I think Jackson's story really shows how important it is for breed rescue. If Jackson had not been evaluated by breed rescue, it is very possible that his outcome would not be so positive. Kristy Akins BTCC Rescue, Northern Alberta Representative |
