  HOGAN - A Rescue Story

BTCC Rescue members have seen some very sad and horrific cases come into our rescue but none that have touched our hearts as much as a little rescue named "Hogan". Hogan was surrendered to our organization because his previous owner could not deal with having a special needs puppy. Hogan has a condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia. His brain didn't develop properly and he was born without a cerebellum. Hogan is unable to control his balance which causes him to tremor and shake (especially when he's excited). However, with physiotherapy being performed on a daily basis, his tremors have improved 100%. BTCC Rescue, along with generous donations from BTCC members and other individuals have generously supported this lovely, sweet, gentle puppy by purchasing a specially designed four wheeled full support wheelchair cart, medical supplies, equipment, a visit to a neurologist and constant vet care. Hogan has been given a second chance at life and he is thriving!

Hogan continues to be a bright happy puppy that loves attention. He's extremely alert and intelligent. Hogan loves to be around other dogs, he enjoys the stimulation and interaction they provide. He'll let out a loud bark when he feels he's being ignored. Hogan is a hero, he loves life...you can see it in his bright brown eyes and actions. He was just given a little body that doesn't work properly. Hogan's eagerness to learn is fabulous; he continues to amaze his foster mom every day! Hogan loves to play with his house mates, he'll roll around with them on the floor and wrestle, and he thinks he's Hulk Hogan! Hogan continues to build muscle and become stronger everyday. He's now able to pull himself up on the couch to be next to his foster mom. He loves to cuddle and press his wet little nose on your check to give kisses. Hogan adores being outside, he'll roll and maneuver himself until he can find a ray of sunshine to lie in. He's even started to eliminate in the grass, he ’ s such a big brave boy!

Hogan works on a daily basis working to strengthen and build muscle. His foster dad built him a physiotherapy tunnel that gives Hogan the opportunity to experience walking independently. Hogan's confidence has improved greatly. He is held in the tunnel by the sides that provide him with balance. He is kept safe by the carpeted floors and sides and by the styrofoam barriers. When prompted by his foster mom, Hogan will walk/run to the other end. It's an incredible sight to see! Hogan's foster dad has also built him a homemade cart to provide him with stability and freedom to get around. Hogan maneuvers himself around the house by pushing with his legs and feet. He has recently grown out of this cart and is awaiting the arrival of a specially designed four wheel custom cart built just for him!

It is only with the help and assistance of the BTCC and its generous supporters that Hogan has been given the opportunity to experience being a dog and best of all, to enjoy life!

Hogan has found his forever home with his foster family, Tara and Darko and his boston terrier siblings. Congratulations!
